AITC Immunization & Travel Clinic

The AITC clinic is a *model* for how other health clinics should be run!!!!  These folks are cheerful, sincerely helpful, knowledgable, efficient and the atmosphere of the clinic is very positive.  I came for a TB test, no appointment necessary, and I was seen about 5 minutes after I walked in the door (4 minutes of which were spent filling out a few forms as it was my first visit).

One tip if you need to get a "two-step" TB test (one test followed by a second repeat test 1-3 weeks later):  this would normally involve 4 visits (once to place the TB test and a second visit 48-72 hours later to read the TB test, and then the whole thing all over again 2 week later).  You can instead opt for the "QuantiferonTB-Gold" test which is a single blood test that does not require a return visit to read.  So, one visit rather than four!

Thanks AITC for the service you provide to our community, I will be recommending you to everyone.

What a great service that the city and county of San Francisco offers at the public health department. You don't need to be a resident of the City either.

International travel vaccines and shots typically aren't covered by medical insurance plans so why not just come to a travel clinic. Established in 1999. It's located across the street from City Hall.

Hubby and I made an appointment over the phone. Downloaded the PDF forms online beforehand.  Checked in at the front counter and took a seat.  Robbie was our nurse.  So friendly, warm, and definitely knowledgeable.  She put us at ease.  Did her fact finding and gave us the pros and cons and any side effects you might experience from the shot(s).  And she's an expert at giving shots.

The cost of the shots and vaccines are itemized.  And you can get prescriptions issued to your local pharmacy.  Visa, MasterCard or cash transactions.

The travel clinic sells salt tablets and bug repellent for your convenience also.

It's a great place to come for flu shots, vaccines, TB screening, immunizations, etc.

Kim Makoi, DC

Looking for an honest, gentle, and experienced Chiropractor and Natural Healer? This is the guy! I've been seeing him for over 3 years (I lost count) and he has helped me through some very rough patches, aches, pains, and emotional crap. I haven't had a so-so day with him yet. I always walk away feeling much better than I started, esp. when I get those F - - - -in migraines.  He's super intuitive and can diagnose me even when I think I know what's wrong.
I have recently sent my 10 year old to see him for the tightness in her back and shoulder area.  She comes out smiling so I know he did something right.  I can't recommend him more. If you're interested he gives a bi-weekly informational and demonstration in his office.  He starts at 6:30p and ends right at 7:30p.  Call for the schedule.

Dr. Kim is great!  He really takes a holistic approach to your chiropractic care. Dr.  Kim and his staff are friendly and really do care about your well being. He is worth every penny!

Also I have done the NET (nuero emotional technique) method before and I love it because your emotional pain is tied to your physical pain.  The primary reason I continue to go see Dr. Kim on a monthly basis is because of the NET system he uses. Also Dr. Kim informs me about what is going on with my body.  I had some digestion problems and he noticed that as well based on my adjustment and he told me to monitor my pulse after I eat dairy.  I have noticed that my pulse accelerates when I eat something that does not really work well with my body.  Dr. Kim has helped me be a better listener to my body.

Also, there are different types of chiropractic care.  There are doctors who do not really "crack" you but adjust you and there are other that "crack" you.  Each experience is different and has its pros and cons.  I definitely love to hear the "crack" in an adjustment.  However, even though Dr. Kim is on the gentler side I can definitely feel the difference in an adjustment.

The Well Clinic

I've been to The Well Clinic once before and have worked with one of the therapists, Lexi Frank, in another clinic setting.

The space is open yet comfortable and private, warm, inviting, and reflects the holistic and compassionate approach the therapists take here.  From meeting several of the therapists I can say right off the bat they are well-trained, take an immense sense of pride and care in their craft and their desire to get to know their clients.  Lexi Frank is one of the therapists I've had the pleasure to work with in a different setting and I can say her style of collaboration is one of warmth, competence, and *total* genuineness.  I recommend her without hesitation as well as the rest of The Well Clinic crew!

This place is awesome!  I met with Harry, the M.D., about nutrition and really felt a connection that was in line with my philosophy.  He was an excellent communicator, and really listened to my specific needs and then tailored a follow up meeting to execute our plan.  The Well Clinic is an amazing place for holistic healing and medicine.  The services they offer and the professionals they employ are unparalleled.  They are a progressive, forward thinking bunch of healers who will make you feel at home.  When people ask me for health/mental health/acupuncture referrals, I always steer them to the Well because I know they will get the best treatment.  The offices are super nice/swanky, and they are very organized, which is a huge plus when scheduling conflicts arise.  Huge thumbs up for this awesome team!!

Hypnosis 4 Health Hypnotherapy

Choosing to go to Ken Steinmetz was literally one of the best things I have ever done for myself.  I went to Ken for insomnia - based on years of intense pressure as a VP of Sales, 2 kids, paying the bills in San Francisco, etc.
What Ken did was help me find NEW reserves of strength and a sense of calm that allows me to face many serious challenges on a daily basis.  This new found wealth of understanding is literally priceless. Much like you might invest in a degree, or a long term bond, I would suggest investing in yourself an get yourself to a session with Ken right now.
I have to say, as skeptical as I have ever been, you will find it is literally "all in your head" and Ken will help you let yourself get there.
For me, though I feel I benefited from Freudian talk therapy in the past, yet it is often inconclusive.
Hypnosis is far more direct, and it has a RESULT-- in fact Ken recommends a limited number of sessions (Just 2 in my case). He records the hypnosis for YOU TO KEEP so you don't have to spend any more money with him!  Show me a therapist who works that way!  He knows that hypnosis works.
That recording keeps on giving to. Your own mind will find what it needs--  you simply have to relax enough to get there.
I know you are wondering if this could be as good as it sounds--and I too had the classic picture of "stage hypnosis" in my head, but this was quickly dispelled as Ken will guide you through what hypnosis ACTUALLY is. Ken runs a 100% legitimate, professional service. It greatly impacted my health and well being. In fact I went on to a series of professional successes (while managing the pressure of VERY high stakes) shortly after my sessions with Ken. Coincidence? Maybe, but having an extra edge for performance - we all want that!

My mom had been smoking her whole life...and when I say her whole life, I seriously mean it. She picked up the habit very young (like most of her generation) and getting her to quit had been an uphill battle ever since I could remember. She tried to quit more times than I can count trying the patch, the gum, the pills, everything. I want to say its been almost 10 years and shes been cigarette free after one session with Ken.
If you are a skeptic, go for a free consultation. I am a skeptic turned believer and am so thankful that Ken saved my mother's life. Thank you.

I know so many of these reviews are just about quitting smoking, but Ken can address other issues too (over-eatting, nail biting, etc.), as I have talked to him personally about coming in to help fix my sweet tooth.

Daniel Martin Acupuncture

Daniel is an incredible healer and a true advocate of holistic health.  As soon as I walk in the door I feel completely comforted; my health and wellness have his full attention.  Allopathic health institutions demand so much of their practitioners that I had gotten used to seeing the doctor for all of 5 minutes before being diagnosed and heading out the door.  Daniel listens to my concerns and I ALWAYS walk out of the door feeling better.  Daniel's use of acupunture and herbs to treat my health concerns has left me feeling much better in the time that I have seen him.  I recommend him to everyone I know.  Visiting Daniel has become an essential part of my self-care routine!

Daniel Martin is not only a kind and compassionate person, but an intuitive and exceedingly generous healer. I have been seeing him weekly for almost a year and a half, and in that time he has opened up a series of holistic doors for me, physically and mentally, such as treating stress and depression, a serious iron deficiency and weak pulse, hormal imbalances, food cravings, auto immune diseases, infections, concentration, and fatigue. He has helped me link symptoms and sensations within my body to deep, embedded traumas I had previously only been vaguely aware of, and of which we have directly targeted (and continue to target) through acupuncture treatments and herbs. Daniel is not just an acupuncturist you go to see to get some quick needles and a moment to yourself (although he most certainly will help!); Daniel is a real, engaged, constantly-learning and investigating healer who works with you and your body on multiple levels in order to achieve YOUR desired treatment and results. He really listens to you (don't be surprised if you find yourself telling him your life story!), and has the utmost respect for your concerns and comfort level. I have never felt afraid to ask him questions, and because of this have learned so much about the practice of acupuncture, and have a growing knowledge of his approach every time I see him. I never feel like I go to him just to have him work "on" me, but that we are constantly working together. And I think this is a really rare characteristic of many doctors these days, who not only are overworked and seeing too many patients each day, but who are taught in school to treat a "problem" with a quick fix, for instance popping a pill every time something hurts. Acupuncture can bring very quick and amazing relief, but it is not a Western quick fix, nor an instant solution to your pain, but part of a holistic lifestyle designed to bring more peace, compassion, and health into your life. Working with Daniel each week reminds me of this.
